Just a Bit Unhealthy
Just a Bit Unhealthy by Alessandra Hazard
When the line between “need” and “want” gets blurred…
Gabriel DuVal, rising soccer star.
Jared Sheldon, team physician.
To the outside world, they’re just good friends. But the truth is, Gabriel isn’t entirely sure what they are to each other.
Some call their relationship unhealthy. Some call it codependency. Gabriel calls it confusing. He knows Jared wants him – as more than a friend. He doesn’t want Jared. He’s straight, he has a girlfriend, and he loves her. But Jared is… Jared is more. Jared is his. He needs him – his touch and his strength.
But is it enough for Jared?
This is the third installment in the straight guys series. Just a bit Unhealthy is a dysfunctional romance. It is one of my favorite books and I re-read it often when in a book rut. The name says it all, the relationship between Jared Sheldon and Gabriel DuVal is extremely unhealthy. Gabriel DuVal is a football player (soccer in America) he is extremely popular and very wealthy. He has a girlfriend named Claire that he lives with and he is very much straight. Gabriel is very nasty is and demanding and very reminiscent of a five year old child.
He had a selfish, ruthless streak, he was too possessive for his own good, and he could be and asshole towards people he disliked.
Jared never tells Gabriel he loves him and always tries to pretend that everything is okay until he finds out some disturbing news that he cant ignore and he leaves. Gabriel is devastated.
…This…our relationship…it’s not healthy for you.”
“I don’t give a fuck.” Gabriel squeezed his arms tighter
around him. “this is what I need. You.”
Jared leaves and isn’t fairing much better until Gabriel makes a deal with him and has him come back. There reunion was sweet and heartbreaking.
“Baby,” Jared croaked out, kissing Gabe’s brow and then his cheek, his breath unsteady and ragged.
Gabriel smiled-Jared hadn’t called him that in years. “Missed you,” he whispered, closing his
eyes and leaning eagerly into the touch as Jared kissed his face. ” So much.”
“I Know,” Jared Said
Things aren’t all roses when he moves back Clare is well aware of the love that he has for Gabriel and she is not having it. Clare for me was an interesting character. I know I was supposed to feel bad for her but I didn’t. She was just a gold digger that had a baby to trap a guy that didn’t want her. Cold, I know but really, Gabe had issues you could see from space she wasn’t that oblivious.
This book is about unhealthy love pure and simple. Its about obsession and need and co-dependence. I loved every minute of this dysfunctional romance. If you want a book with lots and lots of sex this is not the book for you because it does not have that at all. While I really love a book with lots of sex and have been known to pass up a book without it, I loved this. Give it a try when sex finally comes into play WOW it is something. The chemistry is sizzling with or without the sex. If you get a chance to read this or have read it tell me about it in the comments below. Until Next Time.
